TORONTO-the woman accused of abducting his daughter baby 18 years ago should not be jailed while his case was heard, his lawyer said Monday, adding people must hear the whole story before condemning him.
"We will fight tooth and nail to get him freed and to counter these accusations," lawyer Todd White said outside the courtroom after the bail hearing Toronto to Patricia O'Byrne was delayed.
Police said 54-year-old kidnapped toddler alone in 1993 while in the custody battle. An arrest warrant was issued a month later but O'Byrne was arrested last week, after police got a tip last September over the missing children Society of Canada and to shift the investigation to the West Coast.
They believe she and her daughter live in Victoria alongside Sigourney for years. Now 20, young woman whose name was changed to Theâ Whelan currently lives in Ontario.
