The new ND Health means more money, workers

The proposed changes to health insurance required by the federal Government can give the North Dakotans benefit more options, but the price tag of $ 83 million package that would make it a hard sell, lawmakers predicted Thursday.

Legislative Committee has been working since June to draw up legislation which make changes before the special session of the legislature of North Dakota began November 7. The Panel's Chairman, Rep. George Keiser, R-Bismarck, said the Committee should complete its work Friday.

This measure is meant to assimilate the main provisions of the Act is the federal health care reform that President Barack Obama signed into law last year.

It will make the exchange of health benefits, which supporters say will have the insurance benefits are more standard and price, and make it easier for consumers to compare health plans. Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota and other insurance will use Exchange to market the benefits package.

The Proposal also includes money to make a change to the computer software needed to expand eligibility for Medicaid, State and federal medical benefits program for the poor, and children's Health Insurance Program, or CHIP, which offers coverage for children from low-income families.
